Describe how nursing could intervene or advocate for better integration of legal and ethical theories and principles into practice.
The registered nurse must apply legal and ethical theories and concepts to her work with a variety of stakeholders. There is a need to review the legal and ethical issues that exist in today’s healthcare, to evaluate nursing’s position in health programs, and to discover solutions to improve health and health outcomes. This session will teach nurses how to recognize and respond to challenges in a variety of health-care settings and nursing responsibilities. This presentation will give nurses an overview of regulatory action as well as legislative and judicial processes, allowing them to become more familiar with developments in the health-care system such as patient rights, technological advancements, and managed care.
This talk will look at the nurse’s role as a health professional, advocate, and leader:
Choose five legal or ethical principles that you believe have an impact on nursing practice.
Explain the selected topics in terms of their impact on the agency’s viability as well as the provision of high-quality patient care.
Examine the chosen concepts and conduct a strategic analysis for priorities, problems, and issues from a legal and ethical standpoint.
Identify instances of an agency or provider acting in a way that would or could violate a health care provider’s ethical obligations and responsibilities, or a patient’s rights.
Create a policy plan, as well as steps and recommendations, to prevent legal and ethical transgressions.
