In this Assignment, you will create your own strategic career plan for beginning your new career as an NP. There are numerous steps that must be completed. Create your career plan using the guidelines below. You do not need to include any references. This is a plan that you can lay out however you want. Be imaginative, and consider what you want to do as a nurse practitioner. Because everyone will have different goals, there are no right or wrong answers in this plan.

It is time to take stock and ask yourself some probing questions. What is your long-term professional goal? Be specific and forthright. Where would you like to work? What are your short and long term objectives? (give timeline). What are the most important things you want to find? Discuss your salary, vacation, sick leave, CME allowance, medical benefits, retirement, and other preferences. Maybe you have a specialty, like managing chronic diseases in patients over the age of 65.
Then, describe your ideal work environment. Is it a small-town clinic or a large-scale trauma centre? What is the demographic of your intended patient base? Do you have a soft spot for a specific demographic or specialty? What kind of timetable do you prefer? What are your career’s top priorities right now? In five years’ time, where do you see your career?
