Putting Current Literature to Use in Clinical Practice

Although psychiatric mental health nursing practice is one of the most recent disciplines to be licensed to provide psychotherapy, the majority of psychotherapy research is focused on other disciplines such as psychology, social work, marriage/family therapy, art therapy, psychiatry, and mental health counseling. This necessitates the ability to translate current literature from other disciplines into your own clinical practice. For this Assignment, you will put this skill into practice by reviewing literature on group work and group therapy and considering its relevance to your own clients.

Assess the relevance of current literature to clinical practice.
Choose one of the Learning Resources articles to evaluate for this Assignment.
Address the following topics in a 5- to 10-slide PowerPoint presentation:

Give an overview of the article you chose, including responses to the following questions:
What kind of group was debated?
Who were the people in the group? Why were they chosen?
What was the group’s setting?
How frequently did the group meet?
How long did the group therapy last?
What, if any, curative factors might be important for this population, and why?
What â€exclusion criteria†were mentioned by the authors?
Explain the study’s findings/outcomes in the article. Include whether or not this will be implemented with your own clientele. If so, how so? If not, why not?
Explain how the study’s limitations may affect your ability to apply the findings/outcomes presented in the article.
Three or more current literatures based on evidence are required.
