Scenario

Presented here is the second installment of a case study that began in Unit 2 with a meeting between the Dean, Sheila, Nursing Student Kim, and Nursing Clinical Instructor, Andre. The scenario presented here is the first installment of the unfolding case study.

As of right now, the three participants are participating in a meeting in which Kim has expressed concerns about a clinical failure that she believes was caused by faculty weaknesses, such as a lack of recognition of cultural practices and a lack of concern for student learning during the clinical experience. Following the presentation of Kim’s concerns, the Dean states, “Kim, thank you for meeting with us today; I will be in touch with you before your clinical experience next week after Andre and I have a private meeting.” Thank you once again for your assistance. We want you to be successful in your endeavors. ”

Following Kim’s departure, the Dean initiates the conversation with Andre by saying, â€Okay, now I’d like to hear your side of the story.
