Please take the time to read the following case study and answer the questions that follow.

Daniel is a 16-year-old boy who shares an identical twin with his brother. He and his brother Jeff are extremely close and spend the majority of their time together. Despite the fact that Daniel excels in sports, he believes his brother is significantly better at almost everything. They are raised by their parents in the Midwest, where Daniel, his brother, and their two sisters live. The past few days, Daniel has been experiencing more fatigue than usual. He assumed it was due to his hectic schedule and schoolwork, both of which he is reasonably adept at. He receives mostly Bs, but his performance has deteriorated in recent months. He had a fainting spell one day while getting ready for a game. Daniel’s coach contacted his family to inform them that he had been taken to the Emergency Department. During his visit, the doctor determined that Daniel should be admitted to the hospital for observation. When he was interviewed, he had a slight fever, his breathing was shallow, and he was perspiring heavily. He was also extremely sleepy, and his blood pressure was extremely elevated. He did have some abnormal laboratory results, but his doctor did not appear to be overly concerned at this time. Daniel also stated that he was experiencing aches and pains.

You’ve been assigned to look after Daniel today, and when you walk into his room, you’ll find his mother and brother Jeff waiting for you. Daniel appears to be dozing in his chair. Respond to the following questions in your written assignment, making use of the nursing process to do so:

Evaluation: What types of objective and subjective data can you collect based on your current knowledge? What method will you use to gather this information? What additional evidence do you require?

The problem is being identified and analyzed. Do you have a theory about what Daniel’s problem(s) is/are? What kind of nursing diagnoses could there be? For identification purposes, use the following.

Preparation: Based on your nursing diagnoses, identify two goals and one nursing intervention for each of these goals.

How well do you believe your nursing interventions will contribute to Daniel’s care, despite the fact that you will be unable to implement or evaluate them?
