Guidelines

First, choose a group of people who are not like your own. Choose a patient who is older than you and who is from another race, culture, or ethnicity than you (for example, if you are a 25-year-old woman who is a U.S. citizen but who only communicates in English).

Determine the population’s characteristics and how they differ from your own.
Discuss the significance of the health requirement. For this particular group of people. For example, because there is a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the teen population, there is a need for a tool that is tailored to the specific needs of this group of individuals.
Identify any unique learning challenges that this population may be experiencing. For example, income, sensory impairment, and language are all factors to consider.
2. Create a teaching tool that includes the following elements: Technology and multimedia should be incorporated into your tool. Text messages, Twitter, blogs, email, YouTube videos, video conferencing, Skype, computer or cell phone apps, electronic brochures, and electronic booklets are just a few examples of electronic communication.

Include a description of the teaching tool that will be used to deliver the information. You are not required to actually create the tool, but you must explain how it works in detail. For example, your tool could be a web site, but you are not required to design or develop the site yourself.
3. Theoretical considerations:

In your discussion, you should point out ways in which the literature supports your choice of technology.
Explain how the tool contributes to critical thinking and what skills are developed as a result of using it.
Describe how the tool contributes to nursing practice and the patient’s experience.
