Before making a case for an evidence-based project, it is critical to understand the organization’s culture in order to assess its readiness for EBP implementation.

1 Fill out the “Organizational Culture and Readiness for System-Wide Integration of Evidence-Based Practice Survey,” which can be found in the textbook’s appendix.

2 Create a 250-word analysis based on the results, addressing your organization’s readiness level, potential project barriers and facilitators, and how to integrate clinical inquiry.

3 Include details and/or examples to support the rationale for the survey category scores that were significantly high and low. Explain how to incorporate clinical inquiry into the organization, as well as strategies for strengthening the organization’s weaker areas.

4 Submit a summary of your findings. It is not necessary to include the actual survey results.

2nd Assignment

Section B: Problem Description in the Evidence-Based Practice Proposal. 60th maximum point

Write a paper of 500-750 words on your proposed problem description for your EBP project (excluding the title page and reference page). The following issues should be addressed in the paper:

5 Explain the problem’s background. Tell the story of the problem and why it deserves to be addressed.

6 Identify the stakeholders/agents of change. Who or what organizations are concerned about, may benefit from, or are impacted by this proposal? List the parties who are interested, such as patients, students, agencies, the Joint Commission, and so on.

7 Refine your PICOT question using the feedback from the Topic 2 main forum post. Check that the question is relevant to your graduate degree specialization.

8 Describe the purpose and goals of the project in specific, attainable, and measurable terms. What is to be gained should be addressed in the objective. This is a restatement of the question to provide clarity. To identify the expected changes, measurements must be taken before and after the evidence-based practice is implemented.

9 5) Using relevant professional literature sources, provide a supportive rationale for why the problem or issue is important for nursing to resolve.

10 Create an initial reference list to ensure that you have enough literature to back up your evidence-based practice project. In chapter 3 of the textbook, look for the “Steps to an Efficient Search to Answer a Clinical Question” box. You can get help from the “NUR-699 Search Method Example.”

11 7) The majority of the references should be journal articles. However, when gathering statistics to provide the rationale for the problem, national sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS), or the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and others may be used.

12 When you get into the literature, you may discover that there is very little research to back up your topic, and you will have to start from scratch. Remember that in order for this to be an evidence-based project, you must have sufficient evidence to implement this as a practice change. If you discover that you do not have enough evidence to change a practice, you will need to conduct additional research.
