Create a class that you’d like to teach someday. The class must be at least 4 hours long and divided into multiple sessions. Depending on your topic and target audience, it could be four one-hour sessions or two two-hour sessions.

Begin by introducing the institution that is hosting the class (e.g., academic, hospital, or community agency). Include the sponsoring organization’s philosophy and how it will affect the course you are developing.

Describe how you determined the need for this class (needs assessment).

Create a one-paragraph summary of the class.

Determine your target audience.

Determine the learning resources you will use in class (textbooks or other resources).

Write down the course’s program outcomes as well as the learner objectives for each class session. Indicate which domains of learning each learner objective represents.
