This object is an important part of his cultural beliefs, and if he is unable to keep the religious object attached to his body, he will cancel the surgery. â€Let me check and see what we can do, I will need a bit of time to collaborate with others and see if we can identify a solution,†says the charge nurse. You see the charge nurse assemble a team of nurses in the pre-op area and begin reviewing the facility’s policy and procedure manuals to see if a solution can be found to allow the object to be taken into the operating room. While the healthcare team was brainstorming a solution, someone suggested wrapping the object in non-conductive material and applying it to the client under a sterile dressing. This would work with Surgeon approval, according to policy.
